Whitley Bae, Where It All Began
Whitley Bay is where Pablo’s got serious. November 2020. The world was on fire, and we decided to open our first ever bricks and mortar shop by the sea. Smart or stupid You decide. Either way, it worked.
If you don’t know Whitley Bay, it’s a small seaside spot with a big personality. There’s the beach right down the road, dogs everywhere, and that salty air that makes food taste ten times better. People come through with their surfboards, their kids, their hungover mates, and yes, their dogs who all think they own the place. We’re fine with that.
Our neighbors keep things lively. Sushimi Rollin and Spice Bay are right next door, and between us all you can basically eat yourself into happiness without leaving the block. Down the road there was a bench everyone knew about. You grab your bao, you sit, you eat, and then you slap a sticker on it. It’s half community noticeboard, half graffiti seat, and 100 percent the bane of the North Tyneside council. They have since removed it but now the stickers decorate the railings infant of where the bench once stood.
Since day one this shop has been more than a takeaway. It’s been the beating heart of Pablo’s. The best breakfast in Whitley Bay. A dog friendly café that doesn’t just tolerate dogs but actually likes them. A place where locals and tourists all pile in, fuel up, and keep the community ticking.
If you’ve not been yet, come see where it all started. 12 Station rd, NE26 2RA.
